School districts across Salem County take initiative to save marching bands, build enrollment

Salem High School works diligently to strengthen the instrumental music program

In Salem City High School, district officials have worked diligently to strengthen the instrumental music programs within the past five years.

According to Band Director Jon Botbyl, enrollment in the marching band has increased by more than 20 students throughout these years. Prior to the past several years, Salem City High School did not have a marching band program.

While total school enrollment has declined, the marching band, along with other music programs has seen growth due to proactive rebuilding.
