The 57th annual Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference was held March 15-17, at the Waterfront Convention Center at Harrah's Casino and Resort in Atlantic City. Sixteen students from Woodstown High School and six students from Salem High School attended the conference along with approximately 2,400 other students from across the state of New Jersey.

The theme was "New Jersey FBLA-PBL: Portraits of Success." Students participated in many activities, including workshops, campaign and election of state officers (two Woodstown students and one Salem student ran for state officer positions), a dance, and an awards banquet.

Students also competed in several different business events. Bridget McGuigan and Kiesa Dickson competed in an open event at the conference in which they had to create a video about Career and Technical Education and Perkins Funding from a government perspective. They earned 1st place for their video.

Also finishing in 1st place was Nick Sorantino for the Electronic Career Portfolio event, which was an amazing accomplishment.

Finishing in 3rd place was Jake Rattigan for Impromptu Speaking. He finished in the top 10 out of 46 for the preliminary round and then finished 3rd in the final round.

Ellie Frank, from Salem High School, placed 4th in Publication Design.

Nick, Jake, and Ellie now have the opportunity to advance to the national level which takes place in Anaheim, California, June 29-July 2.

Summer Henderson was selected by Cybis Communications, a live event and creative media production company, for the Cybis Production Internship at the conference. The internship was a unique opportunity to participate in the many aspects of show production, including stage management, cameras and projection, and lighting and sound.
