Welcome to Salem City School District
The Salem City School District will be a high performance district as demonstrated by the Salem City students who:
Exceed state standards in literacy and computation, develop intrinsic motivation to pursue education in and outside of the classroom setting, master the skills necessary to retrieve and analyze information, and become lifelong learners.
We are “Committed to Excellence”, and we hope to make this site a primary source for timely information for all users, and a main gateway for improved communication between parents, teachers, students and our community. 2013-2014 Message from Dr. Michel, SCSD Superintendent.

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Engineering, in conjunction with Rowan University will begin at SHS in Fall 2014. PLTW Engineering is about applying engineering, science, math, and technology to solve complex, open-ended problems in a real-world context. Students focus on the process of defining and solving a problem, not getting the "right" answer. They learn how to apply STEM knowledge, skills, and habits of mind to make the world a better place through innovation. Learn more about this program HERE.

SMS Pennant Project
The Salem Middle School Counseling Office has started the Pennant Project. School Counselors, Ms. Fialkow and Mr. Pszwaro, are emailing colleges and universities asking for their pennants so that they can be displayed in our school to expose our elementary school children to post high school education as early as possible. Hopefully, we can help lead the way for our young scholars to find themselves at many wonderful institutions. The response has been phenomenal. Soon the halls of Salem Middle School will be covered in pennants and posters.
The SHS Military Wall of Honor recognizes SHS graduates who have served or are serving in the U.S. Armed Services. We are proud of the men and women who have protected our freedom, and are proud to know that they graduated from Salem High School. If you served or are serving in the military and are a SHS graduate, we would be honored to add your name to the SHS Military Wall of Honor.
